A local council controls and regulates all construction activities within its jurisdiction. Accordingly, all persons engaged in construction activities within the jurisdiction of the Karandeniya local council must obtain a license from this local council.
Karandeniya Pradeshiya Sabha Jurisdiction has been declared as an Urban Development Area under the Urban Development Authority Act No. 41 of 1978, so the construction works should be carried out in accordance with the said rules and regulations.
Building Plans Approval Steps
- Building Application Fee
- Within the jurisdiction of the Urban Development Authority Act Rs. 700.00
- Within the jurisdiction of Housing and Urban Development Ordinance Rs. 700.00 and get an application from the local council office.
- 3 copies of the building plan certified by a qualified person of the building to be approved along with the completed application, the approved survey plan of the land to be constructed and its photocopy, a copy of the deed given to the building department according to the square footage of the building (details about this mentioned in the application.) A receipt should be obtained after paying the money.
- Then the relevant place will be inspected by the technical officer / public health inspector of the council and approval will be given after submitting the files (to the planning committee if it belongs to the urban development authority) along with their recommendation.
- The respective approved plan will be available after placing the seal of approval.
